Rebranding? On a Deadline? Ready-to-Ship?

I’m all eyes and ears.

You’re a founder, creative director, or studio head.

You’re on fire for your bold brand, and you’re ready to take the identity to the next level. You’ve got a product, a strong logo, and a website, but you sense something’s… missing. You know that in today’s world, it counts to stand out, but it really counts to have a holistic brand set in place.

You’ve got a flurry of projects going, and your devoted team’s working around the clock. You’re wondering if you could use a set of hands with getting some things out the door, someone who can jump right into the process without that much hand-holding. But, who won’t break the bank in the process?

You’re the head of the art department at a publication, and you’ve got to ship a couple of extra things during a time when everyone decided to go on vacation. You’re already running a tight ship, and you’ve got a pool of freelancers who can help get the issues out the door, but you’re starting to look for help from someone who… gets it.

I’ve been practicing for over 15 years, starting with corporate publishing and most recently in creative direction of my own purpose-driven creative studio. In-between? Book design for independent artists, branding and identity for international fashion brands, marketing design for global retail, and digital design for clients from marginal to mainstream. Oh, and I have a 7-year-old daughter, so I’m family-first.

I’m a graphic designer, entrepreneur, and father.

Let’s get to work.

I can promise you stellar work, thoughtfully considered from start to finish, sensitive to your timeline and considerate to your needs. I’ve worked in busy office buildings and airy Brooklyn lofts, working on startups and established institutions; even though I’m remote, I guarantee that I can adapt to any environment.

When I’m not designing with my favorite collaborators, I’m running BLAK SALT Studio, a small creative and marketing firm, with my beloved Athena. We build holistic identities (logo, website, strategy, and beyond) with consciouspreneurs. What are consciouspreneurs? Simply put, independent makers and doers who are aware of the impact of their work.

“Alex has an incredible eye and a way of looking at the world through a systematic, expansive and creative design lens. We’ve worked together on various projects over a period of 15 years. Alex brings an orderly approach while constantly pushing the limits of where a a creative idea and design can take us. Forever tasteful and comprehensive. What I admire most about Alex is his appetite for growth and learning ; he’s genuinely hungry to consume knowledge and translate it back into his work in ways that always feel fresh. And he’s an incredible collaborator and team force, and constant creative expander.”

– Maria Piessis, founder of Lost Sundays Creative Studio

“Alex is a highly conscientious, detail-oriented, incredibly hard working designer who always gives 110%. He's both very creative and technically minded, a sought-after combination. I would absolutely recommend Alex and hope to work with him again.”

– Leah Phillips, The Wall Street Journal Magazine

“Alex is a true artist and visionary, standing out from the many creatives I have worked with in 25 years as a brand marketer. He has a rare ability to elevate even the most basic design work, using his signature flair, precision, and caring. Nothing is superficial with Alex; he sees into the heart of things and that's what catapults his work into a special stratosphere. Perhaps most importantly, I always know Alex is in my corner, doing everything he can to help me succeed. I am remarkably lucky to have Alex as my creative partner and whole-heartedly recommend him for any creative project.”

—Kimberley Tait, founder of Dogstar Press and West End Words
